Restaurant chain Pizza Hut will be testing new plant-based meat in its menu for a limited time. The Texas-based pizza chain will be selling a new veg pizza with a topping of plant-based meat from Kellogg’s Incogmeato.
Incogmeato is the new line of fake meat produced by the food manufacturing company Kellogg that was launched last month. It is the latest big player in the plant-based meat market which is largely held by companies like Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods. Apart from these, few other food companies such as Nestlé, Kroger, Smithfield, Tyson, etc., are soon expected to launch their line of plant-based meat products.
Pizza hut will be selling the new pizza from Wednesday onwards in an outlet in Phoenix, Arizona. The new pizza will be topped with Incogmeato’s meatless Italian sausage. Major fast-food chains like Burger King and Dunkin’ have been getting an overwhelming response after trying new plant-based meat products in their menus. Both the restaurant chains are looking to expand their plant-based meat menus to cover all of their outlets in the country.
Additionally, Pizza Hut will also be testing its new round box that the company claims took two years to prepare. The round box, which will be tested from the same outlet in Phoenix, is expected to be much more efficient in holding round pizza. The innovative packaging from the company and its new eco-friendly item is expected to attract customers concerned about the environment.
Nicolas Burquier, Pizza Hut Chief Customer and Operations Officer, said in a statement, “The round box was engineered to make our products taste even better—by delivering hotter, crispier pizzas. This box is a win, win—it will improve the pizza-eating experience for our customers and simplify the operating experience for our team members.”
